Dennis Murray

Dennis Michael Murray, son of Joseph W Murray and Betty J (Anderson) Murray was born on September 23, 1947. He grew up in Danvers, Montana with his three sisters Bettie, Patricia and Judy and his two brothers Tim and Scott. He attended the Danvers one room school through 8th grade. He attended Denton High School and graduated in 1965. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman in Virginia and Guam during the Viet Nam Era. After his military service he attended MSU in Bozeman and graduated with a degree in Agra Business. He worked in agriculture as a grain buyer for various companies through the years.He married Susan Burch and they later divorced. He married his present wife Kathy and instantly became father to two daughters, Kay and Laci. Mike and Kathy later adopted their grandchildren Brandi and Scott.Mike was an accomplished cowboy poet and had an awe inspiring delivery of his poetry. He participated in the Central Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Lewistown twice.Mike suffered from COPD for many years and on the evening of December 2, 2016, he died peacefully with his family by his side. Mike was a cowboy born in the wrong century. He and his sister Bettie shared their love of horses. They rode off into the sunset together.Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Betty; his brothers William Joseph (Joey) and Timothy Charles; and recently his sister Bettie Murray Byrd.Survivors include his 93 year old father, Joseph Murray; sisters Patricia Dockery and Judy Miller; brother Scott, his wife, Kathy, daughters Kay and Laci; grandchildren Brandi and Scott; great grandchildren Tucker, Piper and Wyatt; brothers and sisters in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a special couple, Uncle Ted and Aunt Bev.Cremation has taken place. A remembrance with family and friends will be Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home Hospitality Room. Ashes will be interred at Philbrook Cemetery at a later date.
