Delbert Luraas

Delbert Del Dennis Luraas, 72, a retired owner/operator truck driver and former member of the Air National Guard of Sun River, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his home of cancer.Visitation will be at Schnider Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.A graveside service will be in Sun River Cemetery on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Del was born April 6, 1939 to Clarence and Minnie Luraas in Great Falls, Montana. He was raised in Great Falls and joined the Air National Guard in 1957.He received his training at the jet mechanic tech school at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. Del owned and operated his own truck since 1974 retiring in 2008.Del loved hosting family Thanksgiving dinners and looked forward to family gathering throughout the year.Dels favorite pastime was fishing. Diane and Del enjoyed this time together as it was their time to relax. He also loved fishing with his brother, Monte.Survivors include his wife, Diane Luraas of Sun River; daughters Candi Brandolino and husband Dave of Bolingbrook, IL, Kathy OConnell and husband Mark of Billings and Kelly Luraas of Big Fork; a son, Larry Kelley of Sandy Springs, SC; brothers Monte and wife Vera Luraas of Great Falls, Butch Luraas of Sun River and Darrell and wife Bobbie Luraas of Beaverton, OR; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Lowance; his parents, Clarence and Minnie Luraas; a brother Sherman Luraas and a granddaughter Jaela Kelley.
