David Shadrick

David L. Shadrick, 72, of Great Falls,a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired Benefis Hospital maintenance supervisor, died of cancer on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Peace Hospice.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.David Lee Shadrick was born on February 6, 1940 to Meredith Woodrow Shadrick and Nellie Luella (Norton) Shadrick in Weldon, North Carolina.He was raised and educated in Weldon.David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on February 11, 1957 at the age of seventeen and retired after 22 years of service.He also worked as a maintenance supervisor at Benefis Heathcare for 20 years until his retirement in 2002. David married Karen Gilchrist on December 31, 1994.He was a member of the Elks Club.He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, fishing, working on old cars, and his beloved pets.He loved being with his family and friends.David is survived by his wife, Karen Shadrick of Great Falls; sons Christopher (Michelle) Shadrick of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Adam (Rochelle) Shadrick of Great Falls; daughter Tanya Shadrick of Great Falls; step-son Rick (Laurie) Gilchrist of Great Falls; step-daughters Jo Carlson and Margo (Rory) Minster both of Great Falls; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother and six sisters all of North Carolina.He was preceded in death by his parents, Meredith and Nellie Shadrick.Memorials are suggested to the Childrens Receiving Home, PO Box 1061, Great Falls, MT 59403 or Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St. S., Great Falls, MT59405.
