David Falkenhagen passed away peacefully on June 13, 2021, at the age of 79 due to Parkinson’s Disease. Dave was born in Fairview, Montana on October 13, 1941, to Henry and Anna Falkenhagen. He was the youngest of 12 children. His father died when he was 4 years old, and his mother died when he was twelve. He met his true love, Evelyn Engen, and they were married on July 1, 1961. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. They started their life together in Great Falls, Montana where Dave worked for Montgomery Ward. In 1962, they moved to George, Washington where Dave farmed. Their son Daron was born in Quincy, Washington. Dave’s boss was killed in a tragic accident, so they moved back to Great Falls where Shan was born. Dave worked construction for several years and then purchased a Mac Tool truck. He later became a district sales manager for Mac Tools, where he excelled. He won many awards while holding this position. He only had an eighth grade education but held a job that usually required a college degree. He later went into selling cars on his own lot and then at Pete’s Auto Sales. Dave loved racing stock cars, and he was very good at it. He had a basement full of trophies. He started racing with a car that was steered with a stick. He was always such a good clean driver, that when the throttle stuck on his cars, and an accident happened, he was given the black flag in Missoula, MT. They knew this would not have happened if Dave could have avoided it, so they let him keep the flag, which he joked about and still has. This was a family sport and many weekends; we would all get in the car and travel all over the state and to Canada to race. The kids loved racing and followed in their dad’s footsteps with their own cars. Dave and Evelyn enjoyed dancing, camping, and being with family and friends. He loved and spoiled his kids and grandkids and would do anything for them. We are all going to miss him so much as they do not come any finer. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Falkenhagen; brothers, Clint, Larry, and Glen; sisters, Harriet, Violet, Mae, Hazel, Avis, and Ann. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; sons, Daron (Christine), and Shan; 5 grandsons, Chase (Amanda), Derek, Taylor, Jordon (Kelsey), Colby (Denaya); 1 great-granddaughter, Addyson DeBolt; sisters, Vivian Berry and Joyce McRae; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Westside Methodist Church.
