David "Dave" Mason

David Dave Paul Mason Jr., 76, of Great Falls, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015.Per his request no services are being planned. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Dave was born on March 20, 1939 in Hyndman, Pennsylvania to David and Helen (Lingenfelder) Mason. He joined the Air Force in 1957. He was stationed at Texas, Colorado, Cape Cod, MA, Misawa, Japan, and finally Great Falls where he retired in 1964. He worked at the Post Office for 22 years following his military career, retiring in 1985.He and his wife enjoyed traveling. They visited the 48 states by car and flew to Hawaii 14 times, went to Alaska by C130 and by ferry. They visited most of the Canadian provinces and a few cities in Mexico. One trip took them to Guam, Iwakuni, Japan, Yakota, Japan and Osan, Korea.Dave enjoyed several vehicles, but mostly his Gold Wing motorcycle that he took on trips to Yellowstone National Park, over the Beartooth Highway, Cody, Wyoming, Sturgis and Glacier National Park. A side trip from West Glacier was to Eureka, Yaak, Kalispell and back to West Glacier.He is survived by his wife JoAnn Mason of Great Falls; sister Sharon Lewis of Minerva, OH; sisters-in-law Gloria Cowie of Great Falls and Evelyn Denton of Idaho Falls, ID; and several nieces and nephews.Dave was preceded in death by his mother Helen Mason and father David Mason both of Canton, OH; daughter Peggy Lynn Love of Waco, TX; brothers-in-law Rex Cowie of Great Falls, Oscar Lewis of Minerva, OH; and Tom Denton of Idaho Falls, ID.
