David Leroy Claybrooks

November 5, 1962 — July 3, 2020

David Leroy Claybrooks, 57, of Great Falls passed away on July 3, 2020, in his home unexpectedly. A private service will take place in July, due to Covid-19. A celebration of life will be held on July 4, 2021, in Great Falls. He was born on November 5, 1962, to Clarence and Addie Mary (Murray) Claybrooks in Nashville, Tennessee.David grew up in a home with a large family and was known for his generosity when it came to helping where he was needed. David moved to Great Falls, Montana in 1998, to be near his wife, Paula Fries and their two children, Marsha and Matthew. David loved his wife, Paula, and children so much. They meant the world to him. Even though Marsha and Matthew were not David’s biological children, you could not tell him any different. The family they built may not have been ideal to some, but was everything to them. He worked at Skillful Fabrications as a welder in Vaughn, Montana for some of that time.David was well known for being a “Mr. Fix It.” Everyone in the neighborhood knew if they needed a part, information, or a helping hand, that David was more than willing to lend a hand. He especially loved working on cars and motorcycles in his free time. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and using that to bond with his family. His greatest joy was his two grandsons, and watching them grow. His contagious laughter and lighthearted spirit made David a delight to be around. David may not have been rich in materials or money, but he was rich in kindness and generosity. He had a heart of gold, and was always known for doing anything for anybody. He is survived by his daughter, Marsha Lee Ann Fries; brothers, Travis, Walter “Joe Joe”, and James Robert; sisters, Judy Pearl and Helen; and grandchildren, Adyn David Matthew Leigh and Alizae Mileek Fries. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauletta Fries Claybrooks; son, Matthew James Fries; father, Clarence Claybrooks; mother, Addie Mary (Murray) Claybrooks; seven brothers; and three sisters.
