Darlene Marilyn (Backa) Schmid, 75, of Great Falls, a former bookkeeper for Wendt Advertising, died of complications from Dementia on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at a local assisted living facility.A celebration of her life will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Meadowlark Country Club Grill Room. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Darlene Marilyn Backa was born on November 1, 1936 in Wheeler, Montana to Charles and Lempie Suzanna (Sivumaki) Backa.She was raised in Neihart and Great Falls.She married Ronald Schmid on November 29, 1958.She enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, traveling, and cruising the Missouri River.Darlene is survived by her son, Kevin (Debbie) Schmid, of Great Falls; daughter Karen (Ken) Rider of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Ralph (Joyce) Backa, of Great Falls; four grandchildren, Kyle Rider, Kris Rider, Holley Schmid, and Tanner (Rachelle) Schmid.She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Schmid.
