Darlene Joanne May, 69, of Great Falls, passed away on November 25, 2012 at Peace Hospice after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Manchester Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Darlene was born to Grace Ronnie and Donald Boyd on July 24, 1943. She attended Great Falls High School and Great Falls Vo-tech.She later graduated from Boise State University. Darlene married Jesse Warren May in June, 1961. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Deer Lodge where Darlene broke and trained horses. Darlene worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Great Falls and in Idaho. She also worked at Western Fidelity Insurance, and the Good Samaritan Home in Boise, Idaho.Darlene had a great love for all animals and had various beloved pets throughout her life. She enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, camping and crossword puzzles. Darlene is survived by her four children, Darla Bergstad, Darcy May Roe and Dana May all of Great Falls and Donald May of Boise, Idaho; a brother Rick (Joyce) Hannula of Bozeman; sisters Mary Alice (Frank) Burns of Lewistown and Ronnie Jean Hannula of Bozeman; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse May; her brother, Donald C. Boyd; fathers Donald Boyd and Gus Hannula; and mother, Grace Ronnie Hannula.
