Daniel James Korst passed away on March 28, 2025, at his home. He was only 69 years old. The family is deeply saddened by his death. Daniel was born on December 31, 1955.
Daniel is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Thelma, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Garcia and her spouse, Jayson Smith, Sunny McFall and her spouse, Joshua McFall, and Travis Korst and his spouse, Melissa Lahey. He is also remembered by his son-in-law, Timothy Garcia; and his five grandchildren, Juanita Garcia, Madasun Korst, Kasen Lee, Ethan Garcia, and Alex Korst. Additionally, Daniel has one great-granddaughter, Sylvia Baggett; and stepdaughter, Kristina Faust and her spouse, Cory Faust and their two children, Jordan and Peyton Faust. Daniel is also survived by his siblings, William Korst, Dean Korst and his spouse, Melanie Korst, Rose Brady and her spouse, Mike Brady, Sue Stewart and her spouse, Randy Stewart, and Rodney Korst and his spouse, Lynn Price. He was preceded in death by his father, Norbert Korst; and his mother, Sylvia Jones.
Daniel was born in Great Falls, Montana, where he dedicated 30 years of his career to the Great Falls School District. He found immense joy in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, creating many cherished memories during his visits to Texas. The family also enjoyed trips to their land in Dearborn, Montana, as well as to various other destinations and unforgettable cruises. Daniel had a passion for music, particularly for his favorite musician, Elvis Presley. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of visiting Graceland by taking a trip to Memphis with his family.
Daniel had a fantastic work ethic and approached everything with honesty and kindness. He held strong values and was well-liked by everyone because of his positive energy. Daniel demonstrated incredible patience and always made time to help others. He believed that our actions eventually come back to us. His legacy will forever remind us that we control our attitudes and should strive to do everything with a positive outlook.
We are truly grateful and feel incredibly blessed for the support we received during this challenging time. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute, especially to Dr. Martin’s staff, and to Great Falls Peace Hospice, for everything they did for Daniel.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW off of 10th Ave, South in Great Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to make a donation to the Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute or to the American Cancer Society in Dan’s name.
