Dana was born in Des Moines, IA on April 4, 1988, the day after Easter Sunday. She was declared brain dead on March 28, 2016 the day after Easter. She continues on as an Organ Donor of her liver and both kidneys. May her recipients share in her joy for life, her energy, and her ability to touch many people.Although she was only 27 when she passed, a week short of her 28th birthday, she lived her life to the fullest. She spent her first years in Iowa near her Dads family, Dan and Rae Francis. She grew up with her cousins Steven Bradley, Kaye Lani Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Tyler Francis, Heidi Seher, and Molly Seher, as well as aunts and uncles, Becky, Mike, Ande, Skip, and Shane.She moved to Great Falls, Montana shortly before starting kindergarten at Morningside Elementary School. She lived with her Mom, Chris and her Dad, Dan in numerous homes during her elementary school years. She attended West Elementary School, where she skipped from 2nd to 4th grade. After 9 months in Kila, MT, the family returned to Great Falls, where she attended East Middle School and then Great Falls High School. Dana was a member of the Delphian Choir and the Bisonnettes. The class of 2005 may remember Dana, although she did not graduate with them.The fall of 2005 started her long rocky journey into Meth then Heroin. She spent a month at Pathways Treatment Facility in Kalispell, then chose to leave Montana to graduate from high school. She lived with her maternal grandparents, Bob and MaryJane Borst and her uncle Bobby in Houma, LA. She did graduate from Terrebonne High School in 2006. During her senior year, she gave birth to her first son, Trent D. Sturgill in February of 2006. She then briefly attended college at Nichols University. Her journey took her to New Orleans. She met Frank Horky, whom she said was the only man she would ever marry. They were married on Decatur Street in New Orleans on April 4, 2011. They spent many happy days in New Orleans. Their travels took them to Austin, TX. In Austin, she gave birth to their first son, Angelus Valentine Horky on August 2, 2012. Dana spent some time in Austin Recovery Center and gave birth to her only daughter, Rebecca Helen Decatur Horky on July 14, 2013.Danas travels continued back to Great Falls, for a brief time, back to Austin, then on to Flint, MI and to New Orleans once again. Her years of IV drug abuse had caused extensive damage to her heart. On January 5, 2016 she was baptized before having open heart surgery and receiving an artificial heart valve at Tulane Medical Center. Dana was able to fly home to Great Falls to recover.She became involved in the local Narcotics Anonymous group after her release from the hospital on February 16th. She quickly made deep lasting friendships with many others on their recovery journeys. During the last weeks of her time here, she thirsted for truth and her spiritual side blossomed. On Easter Sunday many people stated she was glowing at church. She awoke early Monday morning to the worst headache of her life and was surrounded by friends and family as she was proclaimed brain dead. Her lifes journey was completed on March 29, 2016 when she became an Organ Donor Hero. She was preceded in death by her father.A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. Her cremains will be buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery on April 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.
