Longtime Great Falls resident and community leader A. Dale Forbes, 84, went to be with the Lord, January 31, 2014.The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Solid Rock Bible Church, 751 4th Ave NW, Great Falls, with a reception immediately following at Schnider Funeral Home. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Dale was born June 7, 1929 in Spokane, Washington to Alfred and Iva Reeman- Forbes. He was raised and educated in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School. He received three degrees from the University of Montana and graduated from UM Law School in 1953. Immediately following, passing the Montana State Bar Exam, Dale was drafted into the military and served in Washington for the military court during the Korean War. Following his military career he earned his CPA accreditation.Upon returning to Great Falls, Dale began his law practice at Church, Harris, Johnson & Williams, and was voted One of Americas Best Lawyers. While practicing law at CHJ&W, he met legal secretary Nancy Grover. They married in March 1959 and they went on to raise five children.Dales commitment to his community was tireless. He received Lifetime Memberships for his service to the Shriners and Masons. He served for 36 years as a Board Member for DA Davidson, 13 years as Treasurer for Westside United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Exchange Club. He was extensively involved with the Intermountain Childrens Home and the Great Falls Food Bank.Dale enjoyed traveling extensively, was an avid reader and would have given Norman McLean a run for his money with a fly fishing rod.Dale leaves behind five children and their spouses, daughters Teryl (Roger) Jackson, Lynda (Terry) Wadsworth and Jody Savara; sons Jeffery (Julie) Forbes and Doug Forbes; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.Memorials are suggested to the Great Falls Community Food Bank, 1620 12th Ave N, Great Falls, MT 59401.
