Clemens Holler

Clemens H. Clem Holler, 93, passed into the arms of his Savior the afternoon of Saturday, February 8, 2014, in Okanogan, Washington.A funeral service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Clem was born on November 23, 1920 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota. Clem was raised on the family farm of his parents, Harry A. and Dorothea C. Holler along with his three brothers and eight sisters. Raised in that agricultural region of Morton County, throughout his life Clem never lost his love of the soil, always cultivating a garden and enjoying fruit trees. In the mid-1930s, Clems family moved 150 miles to Grassy Butte, North Dakota using two horse drawn wagons to carry their belongings, while he walked. In the late 1930s, Clem joined the Civilian Conservations Corps (CCCs) and was sent to a wildlife refuge project in Medicine Lake, Montana.Clem joined the US Army in July of 1944 to June of 1946, serving his country with the 75th Division Demolitions Unit in France and Germany. Clem moved to the Great Falls, Montana area in the early 1950s where he worked for the post office, Black Eagle-Anaconda Copper Smelter, and with the Civil Service at Malmstrom Air Force Base.While a faithful member of the Great Falls United Methodist Church, Clem was primarily a private man whose first priority was always his family. In his spare time, Clem always enjoyed fishing, rooting for the Montana Grizzlies, and purchasing second-hand jewelry which he would refurbish for resale.Clems proud legacy lives on through his step-children, Karen (Jim) Callen, Myrna (Bob) Schryvers, Bill (Peggy) McDonald and Dan McDonald; many-many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister Mary Hecker; and innumerable nephews and nieces.Predeceased by both of his parents; wives, Mary L. and Nannie Woodahl Holler; step-son Kim McDonald; and Kims wife, Denise McDonald.His family requests that donations be made to the charity of ones choice.
