Christopher G. Ja'Nice

September 10, 1960 — March 19, 2015

Our much loved husband, dad and grandpa, Christopher Dee Ja'Nice walked into the Lords arms March 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24th at Schnider Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery with full military honors. Chris and Lyndas place of rest, plot #82, was ironically chosen due to their wedding date, 8-2-1982. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Chris was born on September 10, 1960 in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was the 2nd oldest of six children. His father, Abraham, was a Command Sergeant Major in the Army, which took them on adventures in foreign lands and state-side bases. Chris joined the Air Force right after his high school graduation. His life changed on his first base assignment, when he met the love of his life Lynda Russell. They married on August 2, 1982. At that time, he also became the Dad- Dee to the three young girls Lynda brought into the union. We all became a family that prayed together, played together and stayed together. Together, they moved from state to state and to foreign countries. Chris was a born leader and family man. He loved his country. He proudly served for 21 years. He served in the 1st Gulf War, Desert Storm, Desert Shield and surprised all by going back into the Missile Fields. He earned a degree and many, many medals and certificates. Chris and Lynda were frugal and stuck to plans for an early retirement, which they did in 2000. Chris was a jack of all trades. He knew a little about everything and openly shared his knowledge with anyone! He was always joking and smiling with everyone he met. The humor was, while in a foreign land, he knew how to say Hi and Goodbye but the foreigners would think he was a fluent speaker and would start conversing. Chris would wave and give his big friendly smile and make a quick exit. He and Lynda loved to go camping and fishing with the kids. They started out with a little Jon Boat and a tent. Through the years they graduated from big to bigger campers, trucks and boats. They loved traveling the United States. They became Camp Ground Hosts at Holter Lake in Montana for several years. He became an expert at walleye jigging . He really loved to walleye fish and sometimes was the only person who filled their daily limit. He went every chance he got. He truly loved taking the family (especially the grandkids who he dubbed knucklehead #1 , #2 and so on). Chris leaves behind (to meet again one day) wife, Lynda of 35 years; daughters Cassy (Jason) Fuhrman, Taunya Perlin both of Great Falls, and Rebecca (Brian) West of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Kyleigh, Amber (Jake) VanVleet, Tyler, Baylie, Brandon, Taylor, Jackson and Jordan; two great grandies, Khloe and McKenna. parents Abraham and Anna Mae JaNice; sisters, Celina, Geralyn, and Anna; and brothers John and Reggie. Also many nieces and nephews that were dear to his heart.
