Chester Johnson

Chester Chet Dale Johnson, who loved life, lost his battle with cancer at the age of 77 at home on Monday, July 22, 2013. Chet was born in Decatur County, Indiana on February 9, 1936 to Mariam and Jethro Johnson. He graduated from Clarksburg High School. After graduation he joined the Air Force. He met the love of his life, Margaret Peggy Linn while he was in the Air Force stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Montana. After being discharged from the Air Force he worked as a farm hand until he started his career at Cummins Diesel where he was a mechanical test technician until he retired after 30 years with the company.Chet and Peggy lived in Indiana for 40 years and raised five children. Chet always loved Montana, he and Peggy moved back to Great Falls in 2005. He loved to camp and fish.He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters Anna Louise (Gerald) Tuggle, June Alice (Don) Sallerfield, and Carolyn Sue (Paul) Meyer; son, Raymond Dale Johnson; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.Chet was preceded in death by his parents, Mariam and Jethro; sister June; brother James; and his daughter, Barbara LaGere.
