Charlie Ball, an Air Force Veteran, died of cancer, August 23, 2014, surrounded by his family.Charlie was born March 2, 1931 to Vera and George Ball in Diller, Nebraska, one of seven children. He worked on the railroad before entering the Air Force, during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Nebraska, and the railroad. He came to Montana in 1950 to work with his uncle, as a dry waller, for years and various places in Montana.He married Jo Elyn Paul on January 28, 1967 in Elko, NV. Together, with his wife, he owned and operated the Mint Bar in Big Sandy, MT. The couple moved to Great Falls, and owned and operated a few different pawn shops.His favorite job was playing cards at the Eagles with his buddies. He enjoyed talking and showing his Lee Craft boat. Charlie had quite a sense of humor and enjoyed hearing and telling colorful jokes. Two of his favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting.Surviving Charlie are his wife, Jo Elyn, of 47 years; sons Don (Sharon) Ball, Kirk (Debra) Davey, Brad (Rhonda) Davey and Kelly Davey; daughters Darcie Davey, Stephanie Paul, Kari Paul-Lamb and Shannon Ball; Sister Peggy Parisi; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including Calvin and Jason Ball; and special friends, Jim Olsen and Tom Kalafat.Charlie was preceded in death by five sisters; one brother; and a grandson, Adam Davey.Please join family and friends for a celebration of Charlies life at Eagles Manor on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Flowers may be sent to Eagles Lodge, 1501 9th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
