Cathy passed away December 24, 2016, at home, with her good friends and family by her side. She had been battling stage 4 lung cancer for nearly a year.Cathy was born in 1950 in Great Falls, Montana to her parents Norman and Phyllis Dalbec and was the youngest of three children.In 1973, she married her husband, Dieter Staiger in Great Falls, but soon moved to Spokane, Washington where she spent the next 37 years. While in Spokane, Cathy enrolled in college in 1982 and obtained a 4 year bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, graduating summa cum laude from Eastern Washington University. Cathy worked in the dietary department, as a nutritionist, at St. Lukes Extended Care Center, where she made many good, lifelong friends. Upon her husband's retirement in 2013, Cathy returned to live in Great Falls.Cathy enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, hands on home remodeling, loving her many cocker spaniel puppy dogs and her kitty cats, and most of all quilting with her long arm quilting machine. She enjoyed making many memory quilts for the family and friends.Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jerry Dalbec; and sister Patti Seladones.She is survived by her husband, Dieter Staiger of Great Falls; daughter Kathleen Staiger of Great Falls; granddaughter Danielle Staiger of Great Falls; niece Teri Renville of Great Falls; niece Michelle Seladones of Great Falls; niece Darla DiRusso of Phoenix, AZ; and sisters of the heart, Kathy Carlson and Terry Stott of Spokane, WA.Funeral services will not be held, per her request. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
