Catherine Mooney

Catherine Ellen Mooney, 66, a nurse, died of undetermined causes on Sunday, March 25, 2012, in Great Falls, MT at her home.A memorial service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND, in the family plot. May she rest in peace.Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Catherine was born April 8, 1945, in Halstad, MN, the third child of the six children of Mary (OGorman) and Leo Mooney.Catherine attended a rural school near Hillsboro, ND, Shanley High School, Fargo, ND and Hillsboro High School graduating in 1962.She then completed nursing school at Devils Lake, ND and worked as an LPN in Fargo, ND and Great Falls, MT.For 17 years she managed the infirmary at Sacred Heart Convent in Fargo.Catherine had a gift for caring for little children and the elderly and was a favorite aunt and great-aunt.She was artistic and talented in crafts and sewing.She made wedding dresses and other formal attire for family members as well as everyday clothing. Her family treasures her paintings, stained glass artifacts, porcelain dolls, crochet work, and the whimsical stuffed creatures she made.She enjoyed travel and visited many states, European countries, Canada and Mexico.Catherine is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary Margaret Mooney of Fargo ND; Patricia Mooney of Cascade, MT;Rose (Roger) Brandvold of Mesa AZ; Bernadette (Randal) Mundt of Belt, MT; her brother John (Mary) Mooney of Fuquay, NC; nieces: Kathy Gordon of Great Falls, MT; Rhonda (Marlin) Pfingsten of Durbin, ND; Lynda Meyer of Fergus Falls, MN; Amanda (Jake) Dinsdale of Joliet, MT;nephews: John (Lorene) Gordon of Havre, MT; and Gustav Mundt of Belt, MT and nine grand-nephews, three grand-nieces and four great-grand-nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, a grand-niece and a grand-nephew.
