Carol Meaux

Carol Ann (Kelly) Clawson Meaux, 73, of Great Falls, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 25, 2016 at her home.A visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 5:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A funeral liturgy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel.She was born April 6, 1943 in Minocqua, WI to Patrick Oliver and Winifred Madeline (Berzill) Clawson. She attended school in Wisconsin. At the age of 10, she moved to Montana and attended schools in Lincoln, Hinsdale and Saco.For several years, she worked at a caf in Dupuyer that her mother and step-father ran. Carol lived in Conrad briefly and then moved to Great Falls, where she met and married Dalton J. Meaux in 1968. They later divorced in 1993. As a devoted military wife, she lived in England, Arizona, Germany, Louisiana and Idaho. She relished in her travels to numerous European countries. She and her family finally settled in Great Falls in 1985, where she resided until her death.She took great pride in preparing family holiday meals, always making fudge and decorating sugar cookies with her children. Carol never had a drivers license, but greatly appreciated long drives in the country. She enjoyed westerns and listening to Elvis and Kenny Rogers. She also cherished her vast collection of antiques.Whether it was time, travel or tribulation, the love Carols children had for her never wavered. She adored each and every one of her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Her loyalty, mercifulness and gentle soul will never be forgotten.Carol had several decades long friends, including Joyce Buchanan, Leona Linn, Paulette Lynn and Conchita Smith.Carol is survived by her son, Kevin (Daveana) Meaux of Crestview, FL; daughters Dawn (Martin) Roush of Maui, HI and Heather Carnahan (Jason Lehman) of Billings; sisters Audrey (Mike) Denoyer of Minocqua, WI, Sallie Prah of Milwaukee, WI and Eva Lou Fellman of Shawano, WI; brother-in-law James Kropf of Bowler, WI; sisters-in-law Susie Clawson of Cantonment, FL and Marj Clawson of Arbor Vitae, WI; numerous nieces and nephews, but always kept a special place in her heart for nephews Mark Kropf and Darren Benoit; and grandchildren Hannah, Nayela and Teagan Roush, Killian and Kieran Carnahan, and Remington Lehman.She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick Oliver Clawson; mother and step-father Winifred and Bob Byers; brothers Robert, William, Richard Dick, and Thomas Clawson; sisters Donna Kropf, Mary Jane Girard and Patricia Clawson; and lifelong friend, Shirley Walker.There was no pain, There was no fear, Only a whisper in her ear, Come with me, Eternal peace is here, Her wings appeared in an instant, Embraces of family and friends past enveloped her.
