Carl Allen Maki Sr., 74, of Great Falls, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at his home.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel with visitation held one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow at the Eagles Lodge.Carl was born on February 25, 1939, in Columbus, Montana to Jacob and Lila (Nasi) Maki. Carl met Roberta Ann Ritchie while working at the Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls.The two were married on June 30, 1967. He worked for the Great Falls School District for 22 years as an engineer until his retirement. Carl and Roberta were also the highway contractors for the Loma mail route and Star mail route out of Carter for over 20 years.Carls passion was spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching wrestling, and was a big fan of the television show, Ghost Hunters, however his biggest hobby was collecting clocks. He also loved to fish. In recent years, Carl took pleasure in going for car rides in Woodland Estates which he called Deer Park and collecting small Buddhas.He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, holding the station of Inside Guard. He also kept up to date his International Union of Operating Engineers License.Carl is survived by his wife, Roberta Ann Maki of Great Falls; son Carl A. (Timer) Maki Jr. of Great Falls; daughter, Tammie Ann Estelle (Dominique) Maki Osodo of Minnesota; brothers Clarance (Patricia) Maki of Oregon, James (Beverly) Hutchinson and Jack (Iris) Hutchinson both of Great Falls; grandchildren Jessica and Amanda Haldenwanger, Ann Estelle and Saraeya Osodo; sisters-in-law Theresa Maki, Joan Ritchie, Margie Ritchie, Lillian Yoder and Elizabeth (Dick) Berley; numerous nieces and nephews; special childhood friends, Bob and Debbie Jackson and Tom Hasher.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Lila Maki; brother Charles Maki; and grandson Jaques Carl Osodo.
