Bruce Wayne Chaney, 59, of Great Falls, a fish hatchery manager and Navy veteran, died of Pancreatic Cancer on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his home.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church.Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Bruce Wayne Chaney was born on September 12, 1952 in Oakes, North Dakota to Gerald Oddis and Ann Marie (Cisinski) Chaney.He was raised in Billings, Montana.Bruce entered the Navy in 1971 and was stationed on Midway Island.Following his discharge he was with the Naval Reserves for several years.Bruce received a Bachelors Degree in Biology from MSU Billings.He went to work for the Fish Wildlife & Parks at Bridger, Montana and later moved to Great Falls in 1985 where he was assistant manager at Giant Springs Fish Hatchery, which he later became the manager.In 2012, he retired due to his illness.He was united in marriage to Kathy Smith in Billings, in 1974.He enjoyed golfing, fishing, running, biking, Bobcat football and his family.Bruce is survived by his wife, Kathy Chaney of Great Falls; daughters Alesha (Sean) Thornton of Bozeman, Calbria (David) Morrison of Bozeman, and Amanda Chaney of Great Falls; sister Gerri Ann (Richard) Hoke of Billings; and five grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Oddis and Ann Marie Chaney.Memorials in Bruces name may be made to Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.Condolences may be left for the family at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
