Betty Ritter

Betty Jane Rakestraw Ritter was born on January 11, 1928 in Portland, Oregon. She passed from this world on March 24, 2017 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls due to complications following surgery.Betty lived in Great Falls all of her adult life and was a strong, stable, relentlessly moral presence for all who knew her. She was an intellectual dynamo who read voraciously to her last days. Betty's wit and sense of humor were unmatched. She was who we all aspire to be.Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jim Ritter, her mother Florence Daschbach, and her father Clifford Rakestraw. She is survived by her son Scott Ritter of Billings, MT, and her daughter Dana Ritter (Brian Ramey) of Seattle, WA.At Betty's request, there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made to the Great Falls Animal Shelter.
