Betty Ostberg

Betty (Knight) Ostberg, age 90, of Power, MT, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her family.Family would like to greet friends at Schnider Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014. Funeral services for Betty will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church located between Power and Fairfield. Burial will follow at St. Pauls Cemetery.Betty was born the second eldest of five children to Ernest and Edith Knight on August 19, 1924 in Columbia City, Indiana. Betty moved with her family to Montana at an early age. She attended school at Greenfield Grade School, and graduated from Fairfield High School. Betty married Chester Ostberg on May 12, 1942. The two remained inseparable until Chets passing in January of 1998. Betty and Chet were partners in a farm and ranch operation, which they grew and expanded over the years, and has now been in the family for 105 years.Betty was very active over the years in St Paul Lutheran Church activities, Home Demonstration Club, 4-H and school activities and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and camping.To Betty and Chet were born five children, Ron (Carol), Carol (Marv) Strom, Rick (Earlene), Sherry (George) Deaton, and Cindy (Tony) Blanton. She is also survived by three brothers, Bob, Jack and Don Knight; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, one of whom, a niece, was like her own daughter.She was preceded in death by her husband, Chet; parents Ernest and Edith Knight; and brother Gene Knight.In lieu of flowers, donations in Bettys name may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, PO Box 218, Fairfield, MT 59436 or a charity of donors choice.
