Betty Lou (La Born) Mitchell passed away peacefully on October 18, 2019. Betty was born February 9, 1932, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Harry F. and Alma M. La Born. At the age of 16, Betty moved to Landusky, MT with her parents and older sister Lucille. There they built their home on their new farm. Betty met Richard C. Mitchell, and they were married October 14, 1950. Richard served in the Korean War. During that time their first child, Wendy, was born. His time in the service took them several places from Baltimore to Texas. They found their way back to Montana where they settled in Great Falls. A few years later, Debra was born, followed by Vickie, and the family was complete. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed her gardens, plants, cookbooks and numerous other activities. Betty’s husband, Richard, passed in 2016. Also, preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Lucille; brothers-in-law, Winston Mitchell and Robert Barrett; nephew, Wade Barrett; niece, Valerie Matthews; and great-nephew Colin Matthews. Betty is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Ed) Gierke, Debra (Ronald) Unrue, and Vickie (Doug) Herd; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Barrett and Faye (Ken) Moss; cousin, Joan Fritz; grandchildren, Annika, Reggie, Heather, Holly, Nicholas, Rachael, and Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Braelynn, Dylan, Kallie, Kora; and numerous nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
