Betty J. Fenton

Betty J. Fenton, 82, of Great Falls, died of natural causes on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Peace Hospice.Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 7 p.m. vigil service at St. Josephs Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Betty was born April 29, 1929, to Mayme (McGorrin) and Claude Murray in Great Falls, Montana, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Belt High School in 1947 and went on to earn her teaching degree at the University of Montana-Missoula in 1950. She completed a Masters Degree in special education from Eastern Montana College in Billings in 1985.She married Howard Fenton on July 8, 1967, at Our Lady of Lourdes in Great Falls.Over the years, Betty taught high school in Valier and Augusta and sixth grade and high school special education for many years in Great Falls.After retirement she and Howard enjoyed traveling and spending time with their son and grandchildren.Betty was an avid reader. She loved socializing with her water aerobic spa friends and doing helpful things for other.Survivors include her husband, Howard O. Fenton; a son, Shane Thomas Fenton, both of Great Falls; and five grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a twin son and daughter, Mark and Kerry Fenton.
