Betty Jean Fuhringer

Betty Jean Fuhringer, 93, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at a local care facility. A funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church, 20 1st Ave NE, Dutton, MT. Burial of ashes will follow at Dutton Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Betty was born to Ben and Mary Loch on August 29, 1924. She lived with her parents just six miles east of Dutton, with her sister, Dorothy and brother, John. She attended Middleton School through the 8th grade; then she graduated from Dutton High School. Betty received a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University in Bozeman, in Secondary Education with a minor in Art and Science. She married Rudy Fuhringer at the St. Williams Catholic Church in Dutton on May 3, 1947. They had a daughter, Jan (Dave) Hickman and two sons, Don (deceased) Fuhringer and Tom (Carla) Fuhringer. They together had eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Betty was a partner in the farming and ranching operation and later in the Wheat Center Canvas and Upholstery business with her husband and Marci Kremer for 20 years. She loved to garden, do crafts, sew and travel. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rudy; and son Don in 2005. Memorials in Betty’s name may be given to the Dutton Senior Center, 15 Main St, Dutton, MT 59433, or St. William’s Catholic Church in Dutton, 20 1st Ave NE, Dutton, MT 59433.
