Bettie Mae Struck, 79, of Great Falls, a retired business woman, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Azalea House.A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Bettie Mae (Shumate) Struck was born on February 7, 1934 in Olympia, Washington to Jim and Margaret Shumate. She lived in many places including Skagway, Alaska; Vancouver, Washington; and Redmond, Oregon. Early in her adult life she was a scuba instructor in the Puget Sound area and a buyer for Nordstroms in the late 60s. She moved back to Olympia in the late 70s where she opened up three diet centers.She met the love of her life, Harold Struck and moved to Great Falls in 1981.Bettie and Harold started All Season Spas and Stoves in 1985. The business thrived and Bettie was nominated for Business Woman of the Year for the State of Montana in 1995. She retired and sold the business to her son, Mark Horton who now runs it.She always enjoyed a good time. Some of her joys were gardening, singing, socializing with her many friends, and spending time at their vacation home in Yuma, Arizona. Aside from Harold her second love was her Dachshunds, Trudy and Lily.Bettie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Harold Struck of Great Falls; her son, Mark (Melissa) Horton of Great Falls; her daughter Vickie (Greg) Fulkerson of Newcastle, CA; her sisters, Mardell (Ben) Shumate Knowles of AZ, Judy (Henry) Gronski of WA, Jane (Rick) Etter of WA; her grandchildren, Jason Ivey, McKinzie Horton, Alan and Christina Fulkerson; and two great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jim and Margaret Shumate; and her daughter, Jan Stephens.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, Montana Chapter 3010 11th Ave N, Billings, MT59101.
