Bernice Kemp

Bernice Mae (Olsen) Kemp, 96, of Great Falls passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 from natural causes at the Azelea Place in Great Falls.Bernice was born February 15, 1921 in Velva, North Dakota and was raised north of Wagner, Montana on the family farm. She attended a one room colony school and graduated from Malta High School in 1939.Bernice married Roy Holt in 1942 and they later divorced. She then married Robert Bob Kemp in 1971.She retired from Buttrey Store General Office in 1983. Bernice belonged to the Westside United Methodist Church, Helen C. Roberts Chapter 71, Order of Eastern Star, Gold Star Wives of America, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary.Bernice is survived by her daughter, Donna (Larry) McKnight of Ashville, NC; sons Deroy (Sonja) Holt of Arvada, CO and Dan (Julie) Holt of Havre, MT; grandchildren Stacia (McKnight) Johnston, Josh and Nick Holt, Paula and Jeffrey Holt; 6 great grandchildren Andrew, Alex and Ethan Holt and Georgia, Sterling and Dallas Johnston; and sister-in-law and family Fran Olsen of Malta, MT.She was preceded in death by her parents, Marian and Arthur Olsen; her brothers, Archie, Robert and Duane; her sister, Evelyn; and her husband Robert Kemp.A private graveside service will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
