Ben M. Samuels, 92, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2016 at Park Place.A memorial service and burial will take place at a later date at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Harrison, Helena. There he will join with his beloved wife Marguerite who preceded him in death in May of 2012. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home.Ben was born January 2, 1924 in Lewistown, Montana to Ben M. Samuels Sr. and Mildred Jaunita Cumberledge. He moved to Great Falls at an early age. There he attended schools and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1941.Ben enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942, and was a crew member on a B-24 Liberator in the 8th Air Force, participating in 27 bombing missions over Germany in WWII. He returned from the war to Great Falls and married Marguerite Morse in 1946, where he was a devoted husband for 66 years until her death. They resided on the Lower Sun River area where they raised their family. He was a very loving and caring husband and father.Ben worked in the automobile business for a number of years and later entered the insurance business spending the last 15 years, prior to retirement in 1996 as an agent with Farmers Insurance Group.He was a lifetime member of the Elks, and an avid outdoor sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, golfing, motor cycle trail riding and floating streams and rivers. Some of these activities took place near the family cabin in the Lincoln area.He is survived by his two sons, Dennis and Gary Samuels of Great Falls; daughters Judy Lambie of Vancouver, WA and Dianne (Ralph) Hoffman of Helena; two granddaughters, Nicole Nikki (Bryan) Guckeen of Great Falls and Cherie (Marc) Gunderson of Vancouver, WA; grandson Scott Lambie of Vancouver WA and step-grandson Matt Hoffman of Helena; brother Allen (Lorraine) Samuels of Great Falls; four great-grandchildren/step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
