Barry Nobel

Barry D. Nobel, 63, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, in Great Falls, MT. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.BARRY DION NOBEL was born on February 14, 1950 in Lewistown, Montana, the son of the late Martin and Esther (Cameron) Nobel. He was raised and received his education in Coffee Creek and Denton, Montana, having been a graduate of Denton High School Class of 1968.He joined the Montana Air National Guard in 1968 and served for thirty seven years until his retirement in 2004 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Always the hard worker, leader, and mentor, his military career culminated with a deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.Barry was united in marriage to JoAnn Ronish on October 11, 1969 in Denton, Montana. They just celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary and have been sweethearts since the 8th grade. Following their marriage they made their home in the community of Great Falls, Montana until October of 2012, when they moved to the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since.Among his special interests, Barry enjoyed fishing, carpentry work, wine making, traveling, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Life was always full of new adventures for Barry and JoAnn.He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Esther Nobel. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Nobel, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his two daughters and a son-in-law, Kori Nobel, of Beaverton, Oregon and Tonya and Chris Johnson, of Lompoc, California; his two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill Lettengarver, of Troutdale, Oregon and Al Duane and Doreen Vivian Lettengarver, of Fairfield, Montana and his sister, Jean Stankey, of Corona, California.Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Hunter Cole Olson; Kaylin Nichole Johnson and Tristan Christopher Johnson and numerous special nieces and nephews.In remembrance of Barry, contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or the Roger Larsen Scholarship fund for Air Army and Challenged Program, are welcome.Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com.
