Barry Eugene Anstey, 65, of Great Falls, passed away April 28, 2017 from renal cell carcinoma at home under hospice with his two children, Alison and Glenn at his side.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Barry was born May 26, 1951 in Burlington, IA to Edward and Phyllis Anstey. Edward's work brought them to Great Falls, where Barry spent the majority of his life. In 1968, he joined the Army and spent four years working as a helicopter mechanic. The army took him to several states and Korea, however he returned to what had become his hometown of Great Falls.Barry married the love of his life, Kay Frances Johnston on May 8, 1971. Together they had two children, Alison and Glenn. Barry and Kay loved the mountains and spending time at their cabin in Neihart during the summers. Shortly after Kay's death in 2002, Barry moved from the inner city of Great Falls to a house with 5 acres on Gore Hill. This afforded him an opportunity to look out any window and see the mountains surrounding Great Falls.Barry worked numerous years in the auto parts business and retired from Car Quest Auto Parts in 2013.Barry loved the outdoors. Hunting was a passion of his that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He also had a love of horses and spent several years in the Cascade County Sheriffs Posse.Barry is survived by his daughter, Alison (Eric) Tilton of Grand Forks, ND; son Glenn Anstey of Great Falls; grandchildren Tristen and Shelby Tilton; sisters Connie Dalton and Penny Jackson; and brother Gary Anstey.He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
