Arthur L. Art Raunig, Jr., 85, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2014 of natural causes with family by his side.At Arts request, no services will be held. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.Arthur was born on August 10, 1928 in Great Falls, Montana to Arthur L. Sr. and Dorothea Raunig. He was the oldest of four children. Art graduated from St. Marys High School in 1946 and later served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952.He married Treasure Mickie McGuire in 1952 in King County, WA, but they were later divorced. They had two daughters. Art then married Patricia Pat McDermott in 1962 in Great Falls, MT, and they also had two daughters. Art and Pat celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012 with family and friends.After the Army, Art worked for Safeway Stores for 17 years. He started with the U.S. Postal Service in 1963 in Great Falls and with 27 years under his belt, finally retired in 1990. Not being able to sit still, in 1992, he started working part-time for Buttrey Foods, then later Albertsons. He loved to gossip with the little ol ladies. He also worked at Penningtons loading trucks for a number of years during the 1970s.Art liked to camp and fish with the family. He was an avid bowler, stamp collector, and a huge fan of the Great Falls baseball team and the Montana Grizzlies.Art is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters Dianne (Don) Nauer of Puyallup, WA, Linda Stewart of Fresno, CA, Gayle Raunig-Corrigeux of Great Falls, and Karen (John) Grasso of Florence, MT; grandchildren Karla, Ryan, and Zachary Nauer, Erika Wilburn, Tracy Von Protz, Trevor Stewart, and Sarah Corrigeux; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Robert Raunig of Fallston, MD; sister Margaret McConkey of Powell, TN; special nephews, Mike (Gail) McConkey of Knoxville, TN and Steve Mayernik of Stockett, MT; and many other nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and youngest sister, Barbara Daniels.Art was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and we will miss you, but know we will see you once again in eternity.In lieu of flowers, the family requests you send donations to Benefis Dialysis Center, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405, or to Pat Raunig, PO Box 3314, Great Falls, MT 59403.
