Adelia Hurst

Adelia Marie Hurst, 80, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Peace Hospice with her daughters by her side.Visitation will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Schnider Funeral Home. A funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. Anns Cathedral at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Adelias wish was that everyone wear bright colored clothes during her service. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.Adelia Marie Furst was born March 1, 1934 to John and Helen Furst in Plentywood, Montana. She grew up on the family farm outside of Plentywood. She spent many days herding sheep as she grew up. That is where she developed her love for sheep. She loved to collect anything that had a sheep on it. She graduated from Plentywood High School and then went on to nursing school in Miles City. She was such a passionate woman, and put all that love into being an amazing nurse. She worked many years at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood.She married Maurice Hurst in Whitetail, Montana August 18, 1957. They had two daughters, Rita and Irene from their union. They made their home in Outlook where they farmed and ranched. She was very active in her daughters lives. She was always there for them.She was a very active member of St Anns Catholic Church and the soup kitchen.In 1984 they moved to Great Falls to be closer to their girls and grandchildren. She worked for the Great Falls Clinic Immediate Care Center. There she developed priceless friendships with her ICC family. She retired in 2005 after 49 years of being a nurse.Her pride and joy were her daughters and their families. When she was able she would always be at her grandchildrens music concerts and sporting events. She loved to bake and was always on the lookout for a new recipe to try, especially anything with a lemon flavor to add to the ingredients, as that was her favorite. She loved to share her baked goods with the family and her friends. She also spent many hours gardening and growing beautiful flowers.She is survived by her children, Rita (Steve) Smith and Irene (Jeff) Waring; grandchildren Nicole (Patrick) Simasko, Amanda (Chris) Bechtold, Andrea Smith, Matthew Smith, and Brett Smith; great grandchildren Harmony Smith, Amiya Smith, Hazel Simasko, and Jack Simisko; and sister Vernita (Brian) Hoen.Adelia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Furst; brother, Leo Furst; and the father of her daughters, Maurice Hurst.Memorials in Adelia's name may be made to the St. Anns soup kitchen, 715 3rd Ave N, Great Falls, MT 59405 or Peace Hospice, 1101 26th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405.
