Travis Van Patten

Sep 20, 1977 - Jul 22, 2017

Travis Lee Van Patten, 39, of Great Falls passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Monarch.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1410 13th St. S, Great Falls. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Travis was born in Wheatland, Wyoming on September 20, 1977 and was raised in Gillette, Wyoming. He received his GED from Campbell County and later attended class at the University of Wyoming.

Travis worked numerous jobs throughout his life, spending the majority of his career in the oil field. He loved the environment, the people who he worked with, whether it was outside dealing with the struggles of rig life or taking care of the elderly. He recently enjoyed working for Talcott Construction that combined two of his favorite things, hard work and being outside.

He enjoyed Harley rides, fishing, hunting, camping and being a father. Travis devoted most of his life to his family and children, whether it was working to support them or teaching them new skills which included: camping, riding a bike, skiing and all other things they expressed an interest in, always looking for the next adventure or wonder to explore and share with his children and family.

Travis’ motto in life was “I work to live, I don’t live to work.” This motto took him numerous places over the United States and into Mexico. His pursuits in life included family and fun combining the two of them, you would be better off. We know he is on his next pursuit now.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of Great Falls; sons Ty, Wyatt, Jordan, Jacob and Johnny; daughters Taysha (Trevor) and Tayla; 2 grandchildren, Braelynn and soon to be, Baby Fisher; brothers Charlie (Dana), Duffy (Bonnie), Courtney, Matt (Karen), Kevin (Courtney) and Tim (Terrie); sisters Candace (Bain), Aimee (Andy), Melissa, Shelley (Doug) and Lisa (Gene); mother Julia Pope; father Charles Van Patten; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and any souls he picked up along the way.

Travis was preceded in death by his step-parents; grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
