Robert "Bob" Heinen

Jun 10, 1932 - Jul 17, 2017

Robert “Bob” J. Heinen, 85, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1410 13th St S, Great Falls, MT 59405. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Robert was born on June 10, 1932.  He and his kid brother, Jimmy were raised by his grandparents which meant he had 11 other brothers and sisters in Spokane.  After entering into the Army Air Corps, he became part of the newly formed Air Force and found himself at Malmstrom AFB, where his sons David and Douglas were born.   After that, he was a part of the Navy Reserve where he ended his military career after 32 years.

As a family, they moved to Washington and life’s circumstances took Bob to Arizona, Butte and finally back to Sun River and Great Falls.

Bob was in the “service” industry where he helped to service cars and take care of clients but also delivered mail and worked with virtually every “service” agency where he gave 110%.  Organizations like the Knights of Columbus, Elks, Eagles, Moose, American Legion, VFW, NRA, Humane Society and Sheriff’s Posse and more that benefitted from his hard work.

His last and aggressive passion was (and is) the Montana Veterans Memorial where he tirelessly persuaded many people to donate time, money and energy to that worthy cause.  In lieu of flowers or plants, the family respectfully desires that any and all donations be made in Bob’s honor to the Montana Veterans Memorial (info@montanaveteransmemorial.org) for the continued success of the place of honor, Montana Veterans Memorial Association, P.O. Box 3524, Great Falls Montana 59403.

He is survived by his brother, Jimmy (Carole); and sons David (Jackie) and Douglas (Kathy).

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria and his second wife Dolores.

At St. Ann's Catholic Church in Fort Shaw, Bob Heinen's name was synonymous with every operating aspect of our little parish. Bob always gave so generously of his time and talents. How blessed we all were to have Bob in our lives. Rest in Peace, Bob!
