Jo Ann (Lillegard) Shauer of Great Falls peacefully passed away at home Wednesday, February 1, 2017 surrounded by loved ones due to complication caused by Scleroderma.

Jo was born to Cliff and Frances Lillegard on February 26, 1945 and grew up on the family ranch outside of Stanford, MT. She also began her mission of helping others and a real concern for people and their welfare. This carried through her entire life. She loved and gave.

Jo loved being with her family and friends, traveling with her husband of 49 years, camping, and gardening. She also enjoyed singing with her many friends of the “Swinging Seniors” and the church choir. She was an active member of the community for many years with the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, 4-H “The Rabbit Lady,” and billeting the Great Falls Americans hockey players. She was on the boards for the Great Falls Community Concerts, and FISH. She was also a volunteer at St Ann’s Soup Kitchen, the US Forest Service, MT Fish Wildlife and Parks, and Oregon State Parks. She was known to all her young friends as “Grandma Jo.”

She married the love her life “Freddie” Fred Shauer on November 29, 1967 and they spent many happy years together. She worked as a cook at various restaurants and even tried running her own for a few years. She also worked at the J-Bar-T, the Campfire Girls office, County Extension Service, Tom Mather Realty, as a property manager, Great Falls Housing Authority, and manager of The Park Manor.

Jo is survived by her beloved “Freddie;” daughter Tammy Green (Vern) of Great Falls; granddaughters Shanna Beauvais (Justin Nelson) of New Richmond, WI and Brittany Goldade (Carl) of Hampton, VA; great-grandchildren Olivia, Madison, Paisley, Christian and Adalyn; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cliff and Francis Lillegard, sisters Kay Lillegard and Laurel Holmes.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1601 2nd Ave. N. Schnider Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

My sister Debi and have many fond memories of Jo. We always knew it was going to be a fun night when my parents told us we were going to "Fred and Jo's" place! Fire works in the back yard, climbing trees , and card playing. Always a good time. We always felt so welcome. Rest in Peace. You were loved and will be missed.
