Steven was one of the most truly Christian people I've ever known. He often counseled people for free, if they couldn't afford it, often traveling out of town. While in Detroit, for ~17 years, he spent most evenings and weekends counseling poor inner-city people...always for free. He never bragged about his Marine medals or any other accomplishments. I'll always deeply miss his friendship and advice.

I am still in shock. I can't believe Steve is gone. He Counseled me for almost 2 years and my daughter as well. We were suppose to have seen him today. He helped me get through one of the roughest times in my life and helped me to really open up and come to Christ. Steve will be very missed and I send my deepest heartfelt condolenses to Nancy and family as well as everyone that knew him and is feeling the pain of this tremendous loss of a wonderful man and friend. God brought home a true Angel on Thursday. He will forever hold a very special place in my heart.

Steve was a friend of my family and assisted us during a very difficult time in our lives. He was a great friend and person, he was very kind to everyone he met, he was a true christian and lived by christian principles. I am in shock at his passing as are my family members. He will be greatly missed, he made Great Falls a better place. My condolences to his family and they will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was inadvertantly left off the list of survivors. I am Steve's older sister. He will be missed by many whose lives he touched. He shared his love for life and his faith with many. He gave the sermon at our wedding and I still have his notes.

Steven was an amazing person and counselor. As a divorce attorney, I would send people to him from time to time for couples counseling or individual counseling. He was so very gifted in the work that he performed. Many marriages that appeared to be irreparable were magically transformed by Steven. He offered so much to so many! He will be truly missed. My condolences to Nancy and his family!

Steve was a truly great friend and mentor. No person outside my family has had as much influence on my life as Steve. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. We will see him again some day.

Steve was the most authentic, compassionate, skilled, and encouraging individual I have had the honor of working with. He fostered creativity and "thinking outside of the box" as well as trusting in and developing personal strengths in others. He was more than a supervisor and a mentor, he has been the most influential person in both my personal and professional development. He is deeply missed, yet leaves a legacy of influence which endures.

We remembered Steve fondly at our 45-year Class of '68 SLS Reunion on Saturday. At first, we all found him exotic, coming from "Out West," but soon came to know him as a kind and very straightforward young man.
